General Navigation
From WirelessOrbit
The Wireless Orbit Control Center is designed to provide a consistent, predictable interface allowing you to manage all aspects of your wireless services. This interface consists of two main components: the main menu and the navigation toolbar or navbar.
Contents |
Main Menu
By default the main menu appears along the right margin of the browser. It list general categories, like Account Management, Payments, and so forth. Each category contains one or more subject headings like Accounts, Payment Plans, and so on. Each of the subject headings corresponds to a Control Center page. Clicking on the heading in the main menu will take you to the corresponding page.
Pages
Each Control Center page covers all the management tasks associated with a particular component of your wireless services. The various management tasks associated with the current page are listed in the navigation toolbar along the top of the display area.
Navbar
The navigation toolbar or navbar lists all the configuration tasks associated with the currently selected page. Most pages have very similar navbars with common management tasks arranged in the same way. Some of the common tasks listed in the navbar are listed below.
?
The ? in the navbar links to the index or overview area for the current page. The overview page includes a short description of the page as well as a link to the documentation for that page.
List
Displays a list of all the `things' associated with the current page. For example in the Accounts page the List area will show you a list of accounts.
Each listing includes a number of columns of data for each item in the list. Clicking on a column heading will sort the list by the values in that column.
In addition to the columns of data, lists will usually include three buttons for each item: Details, Edit, and Delete. Clicking on these buttons will take you to the corresponding area for that item.
If there is no data to be listed a warning line reading Nothing found will be displayed.
If there are too many items to be displayed on the screen at once a toolbar will appear at the bottom of the listing. This toolbar allows you to navigate between the multiple result pages. The number of results that are displayed at once is controlled by the Results Per Page variable. This is settable under the Settings tab of the Control Center Home page.
Add
Allows you to create a new item associated with the current page. In the Accounts page this allows you to create new accounts, for example.
After filling out the required information you must click on the Add button to complete the process.
If there are any problems, you'll be prompted to make corrections. If there are no problems, you'll see a results page listing the details of the newly created item and a success message.
Edit
Allows you to make modifications to an existing item.
You must click on the Edit button to save any changes you've made.
If there are any problems, you'll be prompted to make corrections. If there are no problems, you'll see a results page listing the details of the item reflecting the new changes and a success message.
Delete
Allows you to delete an existing item.
When you select an item for deletion you'll be shown a page giving the details of the selected item. Click on the Delete button to confirm the selection and delete the item.
If a delete action would affect other items a warning message will be displayed. For example if you attempt to delete an account class that is associated with 5 active accounts you'll see a warning message like WARNING: This action will affect 5 accounts.
This will not report any cascading dependencies. Consider the following situation: you have a bandwidth limit called "Limit 1". It is used in a bandwidth plan called "Plan 1". This plan in turn is used in an account class called "Class 1", and several active users are of this class. If you attempt to delete "Limit 1" you will be warned that it will affect bandwidth plan...but it will not warn you that the plan is used by an account class, or that the account class contains 5 users. As a result if you see a dependency warning you should manually check the affected items before confirming the deletion.
If you have trouble tracking down the source of a dependency, try using the Search page for the related item type.
