DD-WRT Configuration

This guide will walk you through setting up DD-WRT to work with Wireless Orbit. If you need information on installing or upgrading DD-WRT, please consult the external links section of the DD-WRT page of this wiki.

This guide was written for DD-WRT v24. Other versions should also work, although the exact configuration process may vary slightly.

Access Restrictions

After logging into DD-WRT's administration interface, click on the Access Restrictions tab in the navigation bar.

In the Access Policy area:

• Click on the Enable checkbox
• In the Enter Policy Name blank enter "wirelessorbit" (or something similar)
• Under PCs click on Deny
• In the Days field click on the Everyday checkbox
• In the Times field click on the 24 Hours checkbox
• Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page

Hotspot Configuration

Now click on the Services tab in the navigation bar. From there click on the Hotspot tab under the main navigation bar. If there is no Hotspot tab, click on the Administration tab in the top navigation bar. If the Hotspot tab appears under Administration you're using an older version of DD-WRT.

In the Hotspot area:

• In the Sputnik section for Sputnik Agent click on Disable
• In the Wifidog section for Wifidog daemon click on Disable
• In the Chilispot section click the Enable checkbox
• In the Separate Wifi from the LAN Bridge section click on Disable (or consult the ChilliSpot documentation for more details)
• In the Primary Radius Server IP/DNS blank enter "69.36.234.20"
• In the DNS IP blank enter the IP address of the DNS server provided by your ISP
• In the Remote Network blank enter the network address to use for your wireless network (consult the ChilliSpot documentation for more details)
• In the Redirect URL blank enter the login portal URL for this gateway. If you don't already know what this URL is, just check the gateway details in the Gateways page of the Control Center.
• In the Shared Key blank enter the secret key you defined in the RADIUS profile for this gateway (in the Wireless Orbit Control Center). If you're not sure what that is, just check the gateway details in the Gateways page of the Control Center.
• From the DHCP Interface pulldown select "WLAN"
• In the Radius NAS ID blank enter the gateway name
• In the UAM Secet blank enter the RADIUS secret key you entered above in the Shared Key blank
• Leave the UAM Any DNS field blank
• In the UAM Allowed blank enter the hostnames used by your Payment gateway provider
• Next to MACauth click on Disable
• Leave the Additional Chillispot Options field blank
• Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page
• Click on the Apply Settings button for the settings to take effect
