Relationship between Control Center components

Accounts are what your users use to log into your network.

The most basic information about an account is its name. This is usually a username, but it can also be a timecode or something like a hardware or MAC address.

In addition, each account is associated with an account class. The account class is basically a template that defines the limits on the account: how long the account is good for; how much bandwidth the account gets; and so on. You will typically create a couple of account classes to define the "types" of account you want to offer. You will then use each account class to create many individual accounts.

This means that when you create an account you don't have to enter the details for each account individually. You select the account class, and that automatically handles all of the default settings. As a result, when creating accounts you generally only have to select an account class, enter a name for the account, and set a password. In most cases you will be given the opportunity to supply additional information (like a mailing address or phone number) but this is not required.

The accounts page allows you to add, edit, and delete accounts. It also lets you view all the details associated with individual accounts.
