Adding Account Classes

The Add area of the Account Classes page allows you to add a new account class. To add a new account class:

  • In the Account Class Name blank enter a name for the account class. This name will be used to identify the account class in the Control Center. It should be something that's short, recognizable, and unique.
  • In the Description blank you can enter a short description of the account class. This is optional. The description is for your reference only.
  • From the Bandwidth Plan pulldown select a bandwidth plan. The limits given in the selected plan will be applied to all accounts in the account class.
  • From the Usage Plan pulldown select a usage plan. The usage plan defines the default usage allowed to accounts in this account class. This controls how and when the account will expire.
  • From the Account Type pulldown select an account type. This defines what sort of information the user will have to give in order to log in.
  • From the Gateway Group pulldown select a gateway group. This pulldown will only appear if you have one or more gateway groups defined. If you select a gateway group, accounts in this account class will only be allowed to log into gateways in the gateway group. If you select "Any" (or if the Gateway Group selection is not present) accounts in this account class will be allowed to log onto any of your gateways.
  • Check the Allow online renewals checkbox if you want users to be allowed to renew their accounts using the signup/add time interface in the login portal. If unchecked users will not be allowed to renew their accounts but you will be able to add time to their account via the Control Center.
  • Click on the Add button to add the account class.

On success a summary of the created account class will be shown along with the message "Account class added."

Errors

Invalid value for name

This usually means you entered nothing in the Account Class Name blank.

These values would create a duplicate entry

This means you already have an account class that's the same as the one you're trying to create.
